Sistah Robi Kahakalau
One of Hawaiʻi’s most recognizable voices and a longtime collaborator whose musical history with FIJI reaches back decades.
More than collaborators — part of the same island music family.
Robi Kahakalau and FIJI share a deep recording history. George Veikoso is credited as a producer on Robi’s Sistah Robi album and as a writer on songs including “Take Care of Me” and “Piʻi Mai Ka Nalu.”
Contemporary coverage of FIJI’s career also named Robi among the many Hawaiʻi artists he supported through songwriting, production, arrangements, and background vocals — part of George’s larger commitment to the local music community.
The connection represents another side of FIJI’s legacy: not only the records released under his own name, but the music he helped other Hawaiʻi artists create.
Robi Kahakalau — “Piʻi Mai Ka Nalu”
George Veikoso is credited among the songwriters on this signature recording from Sistah Robi.
A beloved Hawaiʻi voice across generations.
Robi Kahakalau first became widely known as the featured female vocalist of Hawaiian Style Band before building a long solo career of her own. Her music moves naturally between Hawaiian, reggae, pop, folk, rock, jazz, and R&B influences.
A multiple Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award winner, Robi has remained one of Hawaiʻi’s most recognizable and versatile voices — and her shared history with FIJI is woven directly into the songs and records they created.
One stage. One legacy.
Join Sistah Robi Kahakalau and the FIJI Fest community in Honolulu as artists, family, friends, and fans gather to honor George “FIJI” Veikoso.
